Some more cities of Jharkhand should be made smart cities: Minister

Urban Development and Housing Minister Hafizul Hasan has said that additional help is expected from the Center for the development of infrastructure in the cities of Jharkhand. Also, some other cities including Deoghar, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad and Hazaribagh should also get a place in the list of Smart City Mission. He was virtually addressing the officials of the Central Government and representatives of 19 cities of different states at the Zonal Conference ‘Complete O Thon’ of the Eastern Zone of Smart City Mission at Hotel Chanakya BNR on Monday.

On this occasion, Rahul Kapoor, Joint Secretary in the Department of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India and Director of Smart City Mission, while addressing the program virtually, said that the representatives from 19 cities of the eastern region should learn from Ranchi how to make such projects financially viable. He appealed to all the cities to complete the projects on time. Ranchi Smart City CEO Amit Kumar said that the Chief Minister and Minister want to make Smart City Ranchi a city of people’s aspirations. Many roads are being built in the capital with Rs 3000 crore Urban Development Secretary Sunil Kumar said that apart from Smart City, more than Rs 3000 crore worth of road construction projects are underway in Ranchi alone. The construction of flyovers in Ranchi, Dhanbad and Jamshedpur is progressing rapidly. Two flyovers in Ranchi will be completed soon.
