Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has made a major administrative reshuffle aimed at improving law and order in the state. The government issued a notification on Wednesday evening appointing a new SSP for Jamshedpur and a new Superintendent of Police (SP) for Saraikela-Kharsawan.
This swift action was taken on the instructions of Chief Minister Hemant Soren following the recent Jamshedpur Himanshu murder case.
Profiles and New Responsibilities of the New Chiefs
Ehtesham Wakarib (SSP, Jamshedpur): Ehtesham Wakarib, a dynamic 2015 batch IPS officer, has been appointed the new SSP of Jamshedpur. He previously served as Superintendent of Police (CID).
Manoj Swargiari (SP, Seraikela-Kharsawan): Manoj Swargiari, a 2018-batch IPS officer, has been appointed the new SP of Seraikela-Kharsawan. Previously, he served as Commandant of JAP-3.
Why did the government take strict action? (Officers removed)
The state government has taken this strict action in light of the questions raised about law and order following the infamous Himanshu murder case in Jamshedpur. Chief Minister Hemant Soren himself shared information about this action via social media.
Piyush Pandey (then SSP, Jamshedpur) and Nidhi Dwivedi (then SP, Seraikela) have been removed from their posts.
Both officers have been transferred to Police Headquarters (Ranchi) until further orders.
Note: Both the new officers have been ordered to take charge in their new districts with immediate effect so that the security situation in the area can be brought back on track as soon as possible.
